Feeder tunnels
In many plants and processes there is a need for intermediate storage of material. Intermediate storage enables the flow to be regulated in the process or buffer stocks to be produced.
A commonly occurring concept for flexible intermediate storage is to use feed tunnels. The requisite number of holes is made in the roof of the tunnel, where a belt feeder or vibrating feeder is subsequently installed to apportion the material on a belt conveyor that is positioned in the tunnel.
Width and height vary with the requirement for equipment in the tunnel. Several designs are available, everything from corrugated plate to a smoother painted and welded construction. Depending on size of tunnel, it can be shipped to the plant in one piece. Alternatively, when selecting larger models, in suitable sections for final assembly on site. These tunnels are also known as tubular bridge(s).
Together with our collaborative partners, we design the construction according to the conditions you have. It might, for example, concern the feed tunnel’s service life, overfill dimension and the stack’s volume.
Lighting: | Fittings of different types and makes can be installed, e.g. wall and roof lighting etc. |
Emergency exits: | The requisite number of emergency exits is adapted according to applicable standards and directives |
Floor: | The floor can be made from several materials, e.g. concrete, ballast. |
Suspension: | Conveyors can be beneficially suspended in the roof of the tunnel to facilitate cleaning. |
